David Mitchell Turnure papers, 1856-1872.

Papers, 1856-1872. They consist of 3 volumes of account books for personal income and expenses, dated 1856-1872; three volumes of journals, May, 1861 - December, 1862, and January, 1865 - May, 1868, consisting of commentary on the military and political events of the day, with some newspaper clippings pasted in; two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings of the same period, one in a book of French grammar exercises kep by Mary Elizabeth Baldwin at the Albany Female Academy in 1847; an examination of the Society for the Diffusion of Political Knowledge and the Loyal Union League, in which the author comments on the aims and leadership of each orgnaization; and a box of newspaper clippings on Civil War issues, grouped by subject.
